HOW DO I LEARN THE BASIC SKILLS NEEDED FOR PACKRAFTING?
This lesson teaches the basic skills that you need to maneuver your packraft in flatwater, around the lake or down the river. A program that goes over all the basic knowledge and things you need to know about your craft, and then teaches you the skills you need get around in style. The Basic manoevers are the same as in a kayak, with forward strokes, sweep strokes and draws having the same basic technique regardless of the craft you are paddling.
Course Outline:
Getting on and off the water – choosing venue, weather, location
Getting in and out of the packraft and fitting the packraft to you
Capsize and self rescue
Posture and Seating
The Lessons are taught by some of Australia’s' top paddlers. All our instructors are highly qualified by Paddle Australia in both kayaking and packrafting; have Swiftwater rescue qualifications, Wilderness first aid and have been teaching kayaking for more than 25 years.
This 1.5 - 2 hr. course is designed for all ages and abilities. Held locally on the Yarra River or Goulburn River, as water levels permit.
Please note lessons will only go ahead if there are 4 or more participants in any group session
